what it is tho? so, it's about 8:40 peezle at the moment. i am currently sitting at my desk in my room. since i woke up this morning, the fog has been so thick, that 2501 is sitting in the clouds. i love it. it brings a sense of calmness over the place. almost serene. as if transcendent. muahaha. anyways, i have started getting into the groove of my classes. trying to get myself back on a regular student's sleeping schedule, but i think i was exposed to too much ibrahim. i can't sleep before like 4 am. and if i do, i sleep from like 8 pm to 12 pm and then i'm up til 4 am or 6 am. great news...got uzzle for my basic audio systems class. it is amazing.
now for some music. today's music might not all be what you are expecting. but it is definitely worth listening to. that's for damn sure...
this first one goes out to uncle mohamed. turns out he was right all along...
this...this is a culture i could definitely be a part of. the beginning of the song may be a little vague, but just give it a few seconds. it's a great song. this woman has a great voice. it's all great. bon voyage...
carla bruni is her name. the song, raphael. let me just tell you, if i had to pick one word to describe this song, it would be "badass." it's not so thrilling during the singing, although not bad by any means. but what really gets me, is the music in between all of that. and that, that's what music is all about. creating that elusive quality. that small part that makes you want to go back and listen to the song again and again. so, here it is...
alright, let's transatlantacize this blog real quick. don't even know if that's a word but it is now. so on the other side of the world, there is still good music going around. it just takes a while to weed out the average and find what's really worth your while. thankfully, i have done just that.
this next guy is dan wilson. not much of a stage name. but his music is fantastic. note the tall skinny black rectangle in the back...it's a bose amplifier for the guitar. it's amazing. trust me. anyways, it also just so happens that he was a part of Semisonic...you remember that band from the 90s. remember? closing tiiime open all the doors and let you out into the world!! yes? ok. good. now this is his solo work. so pay attention...
now, for the piece de resistance....meiko! that's her name. she's cute too. let me tell you, this chicks album is so worth checkin out on iTunes. half way between Joshua Radin and Feist. she seems like she's still pretty damned underground. still at that point of selling her own CDs at the back of the venue for 10 bucks after the show. if i could get to that point...i don't know that i'd want to go any further. that's such a great time in the career. you're still so involved and it's all so personal...well let's just try to start a career first off. anyways, this song, originally titled "shitty apartment" is called "how lucky we are" and it is worth your time. sounds better on the album just because there's more instrumenation.
ok. that's all the music for today. but on a more bad ass note...check this shit out. so i was walking by the roosevelt theater on congress a few days back, and i was obviously passing those giant 12 foot posters outside the entrances that advertise the upcoming major events. so, as i passed on this particular day, i saw this advertisement out of the corner of my eye...
that's right...ross ipsen on the poster. that would be tim ipsen's older brother by the way in case you couldn't put 2 and 2 together on your own. pimpalicious.
alright guys. i hope you enjoyed. outside of that, i'm working on a couple projects. musically and otherwise. fouad, i might be giving you a call. let's put it this way. you may need to get back pretty quick, son. that's all i'm saying.
